Take That ruin almost everything

I went to see a film last night that a few friends had decried the film as predicatble. They’d enjoyed it, but you could tell what was going to happen after 20 minutes. For some reason, I don’t like predicatability in films. I almost didn’t go to see it. Last weekend, just before I saw Little Miss Sunshine, someone told me it was predictable (it wasn’t), and I spent half the film wondering what I was actually trying to predict.

Anyway, I went to see the film, and Stardust is incredible. Ok, it’s a little predictable, nay, very predictable, but it’s a fantasy film, and don’t all flims of this genre ultimately have a happy ending? Being predictable doesn’t preclude it from being fun, or intelligent. I was particularly impressed by the level of sarcasm they got away with in a Hollywood film. Fair enough, it’s a British production, but I’ve used that excuse on American friends before, and they still thought I hated them…

Go see it. You WILL have a great time.
